WW2 Irwin Pederson M1 Carbine (1st production block) manufactured late 1942 to early 1943. Irwin Pederson manufactured the fewest M1 carbines during WW2 (approximately 50,000) before the government contract was cancelled and production was taken over by Saginaw Gear. This Irwin Pederson carbine has the correct original Underwood 3/43 dated barrel and headspaces perfectly to the bolt and receiver. The bore is in beautiful condition and retains the correct milled unmarked front sight. The recoil plate is unmarked. The "B-IP" marked type I rear sight and type I is present with no punch marks on the receiver from a later style sight being installed. the sights long range aperture has been modivied into an open V as shown the pics, but the other aperture is untouched. The type I barrel band with (3) heavy weld scars is correct. The correct blue finished "IP" marked bolt is present with all correct internals. The slide is a type II marked S'G'. The trigger housing is the correct "IP" marked Type II and all internals are correct. The correct stock has a faint cartouche, is "I-Cut" and high wood, and marked "IR-IP" in the sling well. There are faint rebuild marks in the right side of stock "SSA over "RRA"". The handguard is the only part on this gun that is not correct, as was produced by Standard Products and marked "S-HB". The rifle includes a correct "SP-S'G'" marked (15) round magazine and a M1 Carbine club data sheet noting all parts. Note: There is a repair to the gas cylinder. There was a small crack that has been brazed a long time ago. We have checked head space, and test fired this rifle and it runs perfectly and is very accurate. This rifle has a good look to it and with the addition of a correct handguard would be 100% correct. The Irwin Pederson M1 Carbine is the hardest to find and most sought after by collectors. We seldom come across these in any condition, much less one with nearly all correct parts. A very nice example of its type. Please call with any further questions you may have about this item.
