SALE PENDING FOR HERMAN WHITEHURST - Up for sale is this Remington Sportsman - 58 semi auto Shotgun in 16 Ga. The gun has a 26" Plain Barrel with a Improved Cylinder fixed choke. This Gas Operated Shotgun is the predesessor of the Remington 1100.These are light weight shotguns that point and shoot great and a personal favorite of mine for Upland Bird Hunting and the 16 Ga coupled with the Improved Cylinder Choke makes it quite desirable.The roll stamped Game Scenes on each side of the receiver make it a handsome looking firearm as well. I rate the blue at a solid 90% plus. The wood has a nice Walnut Grain particularly the rear stock. The forend hjas some spots where the finish has worn off closer to the end of the magazine tube. I rate the wood at a close 90%.The cap on the magazine tube has a adjustment for High and Low Brass shells which make it quite simple to change when using differant oz. loads.The rear stock has a White Line recoil pad added with a LOP of 133/4". The bore is shiny and quite clean. The trigger guard housing which has a cera-coat type finish is showing some wear along the edge. Don't let this item get away as Hunting Season will be here soon and these 16 Ga Improved Cylinder Model 58's don't come around that often.
