It is in the 53XXX serial range (1880) and shows shipment to one of Colts largest wholesale distributors, Hartley & Graham in NYC. It has a decent bore, about a 6 to 7 on a scale of 10, and locks up tight although the hammer has a weak safety notch (the first “click” on the hammer) and will only hold if the trigger is pushed forward. This old hog-leg looks basically untouched with an overall slightly mottled dark grey-brown patina and very scattered light freckling here and there and with some slight “holster erosion” near the muzzle on the left side. The ejector head is the later half-moon style which this revolver is seeming too early to have (should be the Bulls-eye head), but it looks 100% correct in condition so at the most it was must have been just an early replacement. The woods look totally original to the gun as well, and are decent grips with just normal wear. Markings are all VG, matching numbers of course, and about VG overall as described. A NICE revolver and a real piece of the American West. $3795 SOLD Antique: Yes |
