This is a very nice all-original example of the scarce Colt Model 1902 Military semi-auto pistol in .38 ACP caliber. Designed by John Browning and produced by the Colt firm, the Model 1902 was an improvement on the Model 1900 design which proceeded it. It was in production from 1902 until 1928, with approximately 18,000 of the Military Models produced. The Military variation had a slightly longer and more squared handle, holding one additional round of ammunition more than the Model 1902 Sporting. The other features it had over the Sporting Model was a mechanical slide stop, a lower left-side lanyard loop on the handle, and a heavier construction using thicker more durable materials. This particular example was made in 1919 and still retains a lot of the original factory high-gloss blue finish and is 100% operational. As you can see from the pictures, the pistol shows only some light honest finish wear and a handsome patina overall. All of the factory markings are still intact and fully legible, and all of the numbered parts are matching. The original case colors on the hammer are still in very good condition, showing some nice color on both sides. The bore in this 1902 Military is in good condition overall, with strong rifling throughout and only some very minor spots of light pitting scattered throughout. The original grips are in very good condition, free from any major damage, cracks, repairs, or heavy wear. Both grip panels have nice checkering and excellent Rampant Colts, and both sides are tight to the gun with no wiggle. The action and all of the controls on this Colt are in excellent 100% working condition. The slide to frame fitment is excellent and the action is both smooth and precise. The original magazine in this 1902 Military is in perfect working order with a strong follower and clean feed lips. We have no doubt that this Colt will still function just as well today as the day it left the factory over 103 years ago!
