Description:
FRESH TO MARKET RARE BABY DRAGOON REVOLVER. $UPER $ALE $3980 INCLUDES 72 HR DOOR TO DOOR SHIPPING

FEATURED on page 43 of the book "COLT'S POCKET' 49 INCLUDING THE BABY DRAGOON & WELLS FARGO".
This Handsome Historic Revolver has a square back trigger, 1-piece wood grip, octagonal barrel, and 5-shot percussion cylinder. 2-line New York address on the top barrel flat. There are expected light markings on both the frame and barrel assembly. The brass trigger guard and backstrap retain approximately 70% on the silver plate finish. The remainder of the Revolver has an even handsome Patina with a smooth wood grip retaining 80% of the original varnish. Mfg in 1850. These wonderful Antebellum guns are becoming harder and harder to find in any condition but here you have a Mechanically Fit very scarce and Handsome example that you can be proud to add to your collection and part of your Legacy without going broke. Your heirs will thank you. SN 13999

Chambered in .31 percussion and had a capacity of 5 shots. Colt’s primary marketing for this “1848 Pocket Pistol” was in California with success during the Gold Rush days. With the addition of the loading lever, this revolver evolved into the 1849 Pocket Revolver. Though worn off on this example, the early versions had the Texas Ranger and Indian fight scene engraved on the cylinder, whereas the later examples featured a stagecoach holdup scene.

The overall condition is fine. Very old refinish. The action is strong. The cylinder indexes to each chamber just fine but there is one chamber that does not advance when the hammer is resting on it and then cocked. Nice bore. Numbers match (100). Solid grip with a small chip in the left toe. A very scarce Colt with a very low and desirable serial number!
