Description:
The Ruger PC-9 was introduced originally in 1996 and produced until 2006, when production ceased due, according to Ruger, low product demand. In retrospect, this was a huge mistake as pistol-caliber carbines were just beginning to gain wide acceptance. After 11 years of growing interest in pistol-caliber carbines and the nearly unopposed success of the Kelt-Tec Sub 2000, Ruger finally re-entered the market with a much improved version of the PC-9. The newer PC Carbine features a takedown barrel and, depending on the version, a fixed synthetic stock with conventional fore end, a fixed stock and M-Lok hand guard, or an AR-style collapsing stock and M-Lok hand guard. The example shown here is the latter of course. One interesting feature is the fore-mounted picatinny rail. This is intended for mounting an optic. Since this is a takedown rifle, mounting an optic here makes sense as it will ensure that the rifle’s barrel in combination with the optic maintains basic zero even if rifle is temporarily separated into two components for transportation. One of the PC Carbines most famous features is the ability to switch out its current magazine well, designed for factory Ruger mags, to another for use with Glock magazines. This makes the PC Carbine and Glock pistol combination possible for use by civilians as well as law enforcement. The purpose of this is to simplify the logistics for both ammunition and magazines. Another advanced feature of the PC Carbine is the ability to reverse both the magazine release and the charging handle to suit left hand shooters or people who desire one-handed control manipulation while maintaining a prop firing grip. The PC-9 shown here is brand new in the box and ready to go.
