Description:
"

Great numbers of the Austrian Lorenz percussion rifle musket were used by the Union and Confedercy during the Civil war. This No. 2 rifle musket is marked 854 (1854) on the center bottom of the lock. A small Austrian eagle inspection stamp is at the tail. The r37.25"" ifled 58 caliber barrel has a good bore with strong rifling with light erosion. The bore should clean better. The makers name is on the barrel but is unreadable. the gun has an overall brown patina with scattered light pitting in the breech area. The beech stock is very good with scattered issue dents and dings and a small chip at the tail of the lock. The correct cupped ramrod and swivels are present. The lock functions properly. The bayonet is good with light roughness on the blade and unit markings on the shank. It is a very tight fit. Given this rifle musket's 58 caliber, it undoubtedly served during the Civil War.
