Description:
On Hold Sale Pending . Antique Hawken style plains black powder percussion Henry rifle Circa 1840's-1850's approximately 40-42 caliber. The tiger striped maple stock shows normal wear with 2 repaired cracks near the German silver nose cap.  The stock contains a patch box and 5 brass inlays. The functioning lock and set trigger system is marked P S & J Warranted.  The barrel is marked Henry for John Henry.. The 34.5 inch rifled barrel is approximately 42 caliber and has both front and rear sitghts  the tang is held by 3 screws butt is cracked at the middle screw.  The barrel and lock have a brown patina and scattered pitting.  The trigger guard patch box  and but plate arr brass.  A very interesting plains rifle by a famous maker.
