Description:
Serial #54265, .450 CF, 3 1/8" octagon barrel with a fine, bright bore that has a few spots of negligible freckling within the grooves. This is a truly handsome revolver that retains 80-85% of a period reapplied blue finish with some loss occurring on the foliate scrollwork-engraved frame. Smooth plum-brown metal is present where the finish has worn, and the original armory bright finish is still present on the ejector rod and arm. The cylinder and barrel retain most of their lustrous original blue. Bright, added fire blue is present on the trigger guard. The frame has the usual Tranter "football" marking on the left side, but no retailer marking is present. The finely checkered walnut grip has small handling marks and blemishes scattered about, with sharp checkering points, and brown freckling on the domed butt-cap. The action lock-up is still tight, and the mechanism is fully functional. This is a fabulous Tranter cartridge revolver, in excellent condition overall. Antique
