Description:
Serial #S159545, .45 ACP/.45 Auto Rim, 6 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a handsome revolver that has matching numbers on the frame, cylinder, yoke, and extractor (the "MODEL OF 1955" marked barrel is not numbered). The metal retains 92-95% of the original blue with silvering at the muzzle, along the high and exposed edges, as well as a distinct turn-ring on the cylinder. The target trigger and target hammer retain a commensurate amount of original color case-hardening, and the checkered walnut target grips, while correct, are numbered to a different gun on the interior. The grips rate about fine condition overall, with some mild flattening of the points. The lock-up is good, and the action is functional, but only in single-action. The revolver is accompanied by a 2021 S&W Factory Letter that lists a shipping date of October 2, 1957, to Kunkel’s of Davenport, IA. It was one of four such guns in the shipment. This is a very good-near fine example of a post-war N-frame S&W target gun overall. FFL or C&R
