This presents an opportunity to acquire an absolutely beautiful, as-new custom-built rifle, built on a fine Model 1909 Argentine Mauser action at a minimum of ONE-HALF IT'S REPRODUCTION COST. The rifle is fitted with a custom sporter weight 24” barrel, precision bedded in a beautiful, extremely well-made French Walnut stock, with shadow-line cheek piece (length of pull 14 1/2”), produced by master gunsmith E Powell and completed Dec. 16, 1990, (thirty-two years ago) and topped with a mint condition $2,500 Schmidt & Bender 1.5 X 6 variable power scope, all, rifle and scope, in mint / as new condition.
This outstanding top quality custom hunting rifle, chambered for the superb .338 Winchester Magnum cartridge, will meet the demand and approval of the most discriminating custom rifle and big game enthusiast, available at a price far below the current cost to reproduce such a rifle, these days, and without the six months to a year waiting period.
The skill and care exercised to produce the subject rifle are readily apparent and will appeal to the most discriminating custom rifle enthusiast. The fit of the metal to the wood and the finish of both are impeccable; the wood is first quality; the borderless, multi-point checkering is precise and extremely well executed. The action screws are perfectly and meticulously aligned and the head of the rear action screw, rather than being conventionally flat, is contoured to conform to the radius of the trigger guard, all conveying the rifle maker’s precision and infinite attention to details.
This superb one-of-a-kind rifle is available at a purchase price far below the current cost to produce such a fine quality custom rifle, with it’s “top drawer” variable power Schmidt & Bender scope and without the buyer having to endure the customary years-long waiting period.
