S&W K22 combat masterpiece. Specifically, this is a S&W pre-(model) 18, 5-screw, K-frame .22 lr. Revolver with a 4” barrel finished in blue with diamond wood grips and adjustable sights.
The K22’s are often regarded as the best 22 double action ever made and the thousands and thousands of them still out-there today is testimony to their quality and resiliency.
Although the 6” target version, the model 17 was more popular for target shooting the model 18 with its 4” barrel was a much more friendly revolver to holster and carry.
The pre-18 is the earliest of the variations..as they became the model 18 the 5th and 4th screws went away and by the time they became the 18-3 the recessed cylinder and the barrel pin had gone away! So this, being the first variation is the most collectible and desirable.
Granted the finish is only at about 85% the gun is still mechanically excellent and the bore is perfect.
NOTE: I just (7/27/22) received this revolver back from one of the very best S&W revolver specialists in the country. It was slightly out-of-time on 4 chambers so he completely went through the insides: frome the crane, through the hand, hammer and everything else inside. As he said: It is better than new!
