SOLD A Civil War era Percussion Remington 1858. of 44 caliber with an 8" octagoanl bafrrel with visible rifling, but pitted bore. The exterior metal is smooth and mixed brown and blue, but I suspect that the blue is added color. The top barrel address is worn and only a few letters visible, as well under the barrel has maybe a couple numbers of the SN. The walnut grips fit perfectly and have the letter M or W . Often ownership was marked on a gun as after a battle engagement guns were given over to an armorer for cleaning, and the owner wanted to make sure they got their gun back.. This gun lindexes and locks up tight and the nipples are cpmplete and clean. An origianl battel used Civil War revolver for sure.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith before shooting.
