THE A.H. FOX STERLINGWORTH---THE BEST VALUE IN THE VINTAGE AMERICAN DOUBLEGUN WORLD, BAR NONE!  Why such a bold claim?  First, the Fox Sterlingworth is the same gun mechanically as all other grades of the A.H. Fox gun, having the fewest parts and smallest action of any of its competitors.  The Fox gun is reliable, the locking mechanism simple and efficient, the barrels and action made of the finest steels of its time, the wood finely fitted to the action, checkering well cut, and the balance and handling dynamics of the gun was superb.  Second, because they made a lot of them, the price is very affordable.  With so many of them out there, how do you know which one to buy?  IT IS EASY TO BUY THE WRONG GUN WITH COSTLY ISSUES.  At Vintage Firearms, Inc. (VFI) we inspect each gun before purchase, our 4 gunsmiths clean and service each gun as needed. Other important factors are uniqueness of features, condition of the metal, screws, wood, and bores.  We provide the most comprehensive photography and specifications in the marketplace, information that allows you to make a good choice.  Just remember, nowhere is it more apparent than in the gun world…you get what you pay for!  If you want a vintage doublegun you can rely on, buy one that is field ready and can safely shoot modern, available shotgun shells.  Few Sterlingworth guns had ejectors, and many shooters want them, so that enters into the search.  Sterlingworth 12ga. guns produced during the first 2 years of production had exposed hinge pins much like the Parker frames and were referred to as “pin guns” in the Fox crowd.  Few were made so Pin Guns become a focus for some.  Additionally, the 1910 to 1912 guns were finished to a higher degree as Ansley H. Fox was still at the helm.  So…hinge pin guns with ejectors are a very hard gun to find.  This early Sterlingworth, sn59148 built in 1911, has many interesting and desirable features.  It is a second year Sterlingworth with the exposed, Parker-like hinge pin, AND IT HAS HARD TO FIND EJECTORS.  This gun has been well cared for over the 110 years of existence, and has the heaviest #1 weight barrels, 30” long with 2 ¾” chambers and full/full chokes and great shiny bores.  The barrels are tight on the hinge pin and the breech face, ribs are tight, triggers crisp, ejectors strong and well-timed, everything in excellent working order.  This gun has seen field use and you won’t worry about taking this fine Sterlingworth in the field for turkey, waterfowl, doves, crows, or any other quarry where tight chokes and heavy barrels make sense.  The stock dimensions are very shootable for most, and there are no cracks or repairs.  Think of this gun as the “poor man’s Super Fox” as it will throw very tight patterns beyond 60 yards with heavy loads to 1 3/8oz.  We have priced this gun very well for an ejector Fox with #1 weight barrels, so don’t miss out on this one.  Call now and make it yours for the upcoming dove season.  You will be amazed at how deadly a tight-choked Fox is even out at 60 yards!  Thanks for looking.
