Payment Types Accepted: Money Order, Certified Check Description: Colt Model 1849 Pocket Revolver made in 1860 with lots of original blue, case colors, and silver plating remaining. 4" Octagonal Barrel, 5 shot Cylinder with Large Trigger Guard. Barrel has early 2 Line New York Address. Serial Number is in the 169000 range and has 100% matching numbers which including the frame, barrel, cylinder, trigger guard, backstrap, arbor pin, wedge, loading lever, and grips. Overall Condition is NRA Antique Fine Plus with 75% strong original case colors on the frame and loading lever. Hammer shows 40% fade colors. Barrel has 50% original blue finish remaing. Cylinder has its original stagecoach scene with 25% faded original blue with the balance turned to patina. The screws still show generous amounts of their original tempered fire blue remaining with the exception of the trigger screw which is a correct replacement...that is the only part that's been replaced on this 162 year old gun. Trigger still has 80% of its bright fire blue. Trigger guard has 85% of its original silver plating over the brass while the backstrap has 70% remaining. The original walnut grips have never been touched or cleaned with perfect wood to metal fit and 97% original varnish with a few minor scratches and handling wear...2 small gouges on right panel. No chips, No Cracks, No Repairs. Mechanics are tight and the cylinder indexes and locks properly. The rear face of the cylinder retain all 5 of its safety pins on the lugs between the chambers. Good Bore with strong rifling and some scattered light pits..typical of black powder era guns. This gun strikes me as though it were once in a case given the strong amounts of original finish remaining. These little Colts were extremely popular personal carry weapons with soldiers during the Civil War; both Union and Confederate. The fact that this one was made between the John Brown raid at Harpers Ferry and the State of the Civil War in 1861 lends the possibility of this being a Confederate purchase. Antique, Pre-1898.
