Description:
This is a fresh estate find from Illinois. This gun is in very good overall condition, all original and untouched. Barrel has traces of original blue mixed with plum patina, no rust or pitting visible. Brass parts has nice orange-brownish patina with slight wear to the edges whoch is expected from the 160 year old gun. Action is smooth and tight, bore is shiny with strong rifling, no rust or pitting present. Screw heads are nice and untouched, most never taken off. Wood has no cracks but a number of dings in the butt stock. Serial # 22xx. Per original owner, the follower and mag spring were removed from the gun years ago and stored separately, somewhere in the garage or a shed, so the brass follower shows a lot more oxidation than the rest of the gun. I didnt want to put the follower and spring in the mag without first showing prospective buyer exactly how the rifle came. No license needed to buy except NJ residents. . Please, no low ball offers,I was offered $ 20k for this gun by a dealer, (Collectors Firearms in Houston) based on telephone description only. More pics available. Thanks, check my other listings
