Description:
Quintessential early Jeffery African rifle (well actually it was made for Lyon & Lyon in Calcutta and so marked in addition to the Jeffery marking) with platinum-lined 4 leaf express sight, silver "SAFE" detail, silver stock oval, game scene engraved extractor action, sling eyes, and heel and toe plates. Gone through, rejointed by the traditional wedge method, metal finishes partially redone, stock cleaned but not sanded. 24" barrels have been polished ready for blacking, with some minor residual external pitting. Proofed for 55gr cordite/400gr bullet (Kynoch tropical load). Will regulate for your choice of load/ammo and then black the barrels for this price. (Note, Hornady factory solids shoot 4" apart at 75 yds). Left bore is crisp and clean; right has strong rifling but a little darker at chamber end. Bushed strikers. Engraving (Cape Buffalo) is more detailed and better executed than that on most Jefferys of this style and period. 11lb
