ORNATE OTTOMAN EMPIRE PRIZREN FLINTLOCK KABUR CHIEFTAINS PISTOL CIRCA LATE 1700’S-EARLY 1800’S. Prime example of the fine quality pistols made in the famous Balkan gun making center of Prizren, Kosovo. Famous for their silver and gold filigree stock inlay and ornate silver mounts their products were sold throughout the Ottoman Empire and Balkan States. 20” o/a with 12” half octagon barrel signed in Roman script “MOUSULLES” and with faux British proofs at left breech. Ornately floral carved stock with silver repousse mounts and very fine and extensive silver and gold wire inlay. Silver side plate and ramrod pipes. Engraved lock with all the original parts. Exceptional quality overall as seen on the top pistols from the famous Balkan gun making center of Prizren, Kosovo which at its height had over 100 gun makers and exported arms all over the Ottoman Empire. All original and in fine condition. Lock in working order. Exceptional example.
