Description:
This is a very nice, all-original and matching 1st Generation Colt Bisley Model chambered in .32 WCF or .32-20 caliber with a 5.5" inch barrel.  This example is serial number 229243 making it's date of manufacture 1902.  The single-action Colt Bisley was designed in 1896 with the target shooter in mind and featured a longer and more curved forward grip strap and a smaller raked-back hammer.  The Bisley name came from Bisley, England where the International Shooting Matches were held during the late 19th and early 20th century.  This Bisley is in good condition both inside and out.  The grip frame, trigger, cylinder, and barrel all show nice areas of the original factory gloss blue, with the balance showing an attractive grey-blue patina.  The color case-hardened frame and hammer also still show some nice bright color, particularly in the protected areas. All of the factory markings are still nice and clear except for the left-side barrel legend where "Bisley Model 32 W.C.F." shows some mechanical wear from being holstered and carried.  All of the numbered parts are matching, and the serial numbers are crisp and clear.  The bore in this Colt is in good shape overall, showing nice rifling throughout the barrel with only some minor pitting in spots. The front sight has been shortened and narrowed into a fine bead. This was a common period modification by target shooters to adjust for load or point of aim. All 6 chambers of the cylinder are in great shape, slick and free from any damage or pitting.  The original factory checkered hard rubber grips are in excellent shape, free from any cracks, chips, repairs, or major dings/damage.  Both grip panels are perfectly fit to the gun, and both sides are tight with no wiggle.  The action on this Colt Bisley is smooth and precise, perfectly "in time" no matter how fast or slow you work it.  All four clicks are nice and loud when the hammer is cocked, and all 3 hammer positions are still intact (the safety position, half-cock, and full-cock).  This Bisley should shoot and function just as well today as the day it left the Colt factory over 118 years ago. If you have been looking for a Bisley you can enjoy at the range and as an investment, this all-original and handsome 1902 production example would be a great choice.
