Serial number 15892, this carbine was made in 1882, over 140 years ago. It appears to be totally untouched and never cleaned, just how it left the factory in 1882. As you can see from the pictures, all of the finish appears to be original and all of the factory markings are still crisp and clean. The bore in this carbine is truly spectacular, with perfect rifling, bright lands and grooves, and zero imperfections. All of the small parts, screws, pins, and otherwise appear origianl with a matching patina to the rest of the gun. The original stock on this carbine is superb, free from any repairs, chips, or major damage. The wood is solid and handsome, showing only some very minor handling and storage marks. All of the factory stock hardware is still intact and tight to the gun. The action on this Winchester Hotchkiss is smooth, slick, and precise. Bolt lock-up is superb, and all of the controls on the rifle are in perfect working order including the safety/magazine cut-off as wellas the trigger. There is no doubt that this Winchester will still shoot just as accurately and reliably now as when it shipped from the factory in 1882. This is a true collector's piece and would be a great addition to any Winchester or antique U.S. Military weapons collection. As an antique this can be shipped diectly to your home, no FFL needed.
