James Purdey & Sons - SxS, 12ga. 30" Barrels. 
Self-opener full sidelock extractor, 2 ¾” and 30”, Whitworth steel barrels. Barrel engraving is all there, it is slightly lightened from a very early re-blackening of barrels. Single selective trigger with selector on safety, English. Third fastener, engraved by George Lucas of Purdey, who was the head engraver at the time. Blued top lever and trigger guard, both of which retain quite a bit of the original blue. Straight grip, very highly figured French walnut, bore diameter 732 on the right which is modified, and 734 on left which is full. Minimum wall thickness are 21 and 26. Action retains over 90% case hardening which is remarkable for this antique Purdy. Perfect rose and scroll engraving of the very highest quality, heel and toe plates engraved with rose and scroll. Gun is tight, with hardly any use. Barrels in perfect condition, on face, screws are near perfect. Gun is really remarkable with its percentage of original finish and near perfect wood, finely executed checkering, perfect drop points, and wood is proud around receiver. When this gun was built, it was built to the highest quality, very few Purdey shotguns were ever built any finer. Look at the engraving in the close up on the pictures, it is perfect and just beautiful.
