Carved Stock, Gold Punch Dots Original Flintlock Pistol
Here we present an antique French Flintlock Pocket Pistol, made circa early-19th Century in France. This large bore flintlock pistol was used primarily as a self-defense weapon. Their effective range was short, and they were frequently used as an adjunct to a sword. Pistols in this era were usually smoothbore, although some rifled pistols were produced. They came in a variety of sizes with the smallest being less than 6 inches and the largest ranging to over 20 inches.
The overall condition is very good. Gray patina with some gold accents that can still be seen atop the barrel. Original flintlock, strong action. Good bore, clear and nicely aged. The stock/grip show an average amount of handling and the carvings remain well defined. There is a split under the barrel where the ramrod tubes are located, which is stable.
