Description:
Rock Island Armory Model 1903 bolt action rifle, .30-06. Of the 1903’s built, RIA had the lesser amount of production. And, it took RIA awhile to get going. Because of high demand for a military rifle to replace the Krag, RIA was enlisted to make 1903’s due to the fact that Springfield Armory simply could not make enough. Starting in 1904 RIA did not actually get any rifles shipped until 1908 (see stock cartouche).
With the 1908 stock cartouche, the 104969 and the 9-08 barrel date this rifle is one of the very first shipped from RIA and it appears to be all original and in premier collector condition.
Note: The sling is the correct type and color but it is not dated, so it may or may not be original to the rifle.
The bore is perfect. The action functions as new.
This is a very collectible and very fine example of an original RIA 1903.
