Real Antique CIVIL WAR Era Colt 1851 Navy Revolver
The overall condition is very good with excellent action. All the numbers match, good grip and cylinder scene remains intact with legible markings as seen on the attached pictures. The bore is in very good shape for its age with nice rifling. Barrel is 7-1/2 inches. Caliber is .36 Percussion. Gun was manufactured at the end of the Civil War in 1865 according to the serial number.
What is unique about this gun is that the butt of the handle has a the name enscribed: H.H. McDowell (see picture number 6). I found 2 articles on H.H. Mc Dowell I can email to you of your interested.
