Description: .375 Holland & Holland custom by Mark Penrod, North Manchester, IN on a Brevex M300 true magnum length Mauser action with a 23 1/2" barrel with a banded ramp front sight, barrel attached sling stud, and island rear sight with one standing leaf. Bore is excellent. Action features include a two position side swing safety, Blackburn fully adjustable trigger, Brevex drop box bottom metal with straddle floorplate and trigger bow release, custom bolt handle with two panel teardrop bolt knob checkering, and jeweled bolt and follower. Reciever is topped with Talley bases and 30mm lever release rings. Stocked in a well figured piece of Turkish Walnut with excellent color and contrast in the American Classic style with a shadow line cheekpiece, point pattern checkering with a mullered border that wraps the forend, a Beisen checkered steel grip cap, an ebony forend tip, and a two screw inletted rear swivel stud. LOP is 13 7/8" to a Silver's type pad. Weighs in at 9lb 12oz This is an outstanding piece by a well known and well respected maker. It remains in new and never hunted condition with only the very slightest of handling marks. I do not know who did the stock work on this gun but Mr. Penrod has informed me that the gentleman who had this gun built was an employee of Champlin Firearms in Enid, Oklahoma so it could be Clayton Nelson or Maurice Ottmar. Well priced and ready for safari. The Brevex actions are true magnum length actions that were built in France on Mauser factory machinery that was shipped to France when the Mauser factory in Oberndorf was dismantled by the Allies in 1946. They were built in small numbers in the 50's and 60's by a Mr. Polanski, a Polish firearm factory engineer who immigrated to France after the war. They are actually larger than the Oberndorf magnum actions with a 1.5" front receiver ring and an 8.207" receiver screw spacing. They have long been considered very high quality actions. SOLD |
