We offer you an AMN “Pre-War” Remington Model 513-S Sporter .22 Bolt Action First Year Production Rifle.
This first year production rifle is an all (AMN) all matching numbers gun. The Pre-War early production rifles have the eyelet style sling swivels as this one still retains. The assembly numbers are matching on the butt plate and butt stock as shown. This model has a serial number which was stamped on the bottom of the barrel just ahead of the forearm. This one is wears the serial number of 770 with a barrel date code of "OJ" which translates to July of 1940. This Sporter version of the 513 Matchmaster was manufactured from 1940 to 1957 with a little over 13,000 being made.
The top of the barrel is marked “REMINGTON ARMS CO. INC. ILION. N.Y. / MADE IN U.S.A. - PATENTS PENDING” and “THE / MATCHMASTER / REG.US.PAT.OFF. / MODEL 513-S”, and on the left side of the barrel near the action “Remington / REG.US.PAT.OFF / 22 LONG RIFLE” then the barrel date code is “OJ”. With the underside of the barrel is marked “770” as mentioned. The 27 inch barrel has an excellent bore with no issues. The metal finish shows thinning and marks from use over the last 82 years. The stock is in very fine condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. The rifle was test fired and functioned just fine. It has one original magazine with it as shown.
On top is mounted a Winchester 8X scope that shows wear to the finish. The adjustable objective feature works just fine. The optics are clear and clean and the standard crosshairs are fine with no issues.
