Description:
On Hold Sale Pending. Antique Model 1816 US contract musket by Asa Waters dated 1836 originally flintlock converted to percussion in the 1850s.  Tens of thousands originally 3 band muskets were later converted to fowling  pieces as this one for sale to homesteaders heading west.  This one was shortened to one band with a 36 inch barrel.  The lock is marked US A Waters Millbury 1836.  The unsanded dark walnut stock is in good condition with one visible cartouche and has been shortened to one band.  The barrel has been shortened to 36 inches and has a front bead sight.  All metal parts are dark brown with scattered pitting.
