Description:
S O L D ....LAYAWAY?.... CASE COLOR!...This is a great looking gun. It is an original Sharps patent cavalry carbine. This one started off life as the military model percussion. We know that it started life as a model 1863 because the serial number falls in the model 1863 range. It has the serial number of C,29084 which was the way that Sharps marked the serial number 129,084. After the gun's Civil War services it was converted from percussion to the cartridge system. It is one of the ones that was taken back to the arsenal and converted for Government use. We know this because of the "DFC" cartouche stamp on the wide part of the back side of the shoudlerstock.....
CONDITION...
The barrel of the gun has the original lands and grooves still visible. During the conversion, they changed out the block as well as the hammer. You can still see the Sharps patent marks on the lockplate and frame. The lockplate and hammer still have a nice amount of the original factory case coloration. The actions of the lockplate and block works well and catches on both of the two positions. The barrel is full-length with the original front sight base intact with the blade. The rear sight is intact and has the original sight blade intact as well. The wood has a nice untouched look with the light wear from service. This gun was used during the Civil War and has the conversion so it could have been used during the Indian Wars as well. This is a neat original Sharps carbine with the cartridge conversion....S/H $55...2nd firearm ships FREE with this one!...Thanks, Greg #663-79

CONDITION: Very good. Iron components exhibit a dove gray patina. Stocks are very good as lightly cleaned with some added finish and some minor marks. Excellent bright bore showing crisp rifling and some light oxidation spots. Mechanically fine.2nd firearm ships FREE with this one!....Thanks, Greg #334-337

NOTE....This was purchased from a regular on Antiques Roadshow, that appraises Civil War items.
