Description:
Serial #533504, .45-70 Gov’t., 32 5/8" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This late model Trapdoor has an overall mixed pewter gray and plum-brown patina with spots of dark pinprick pitting along the top of the barrel. Some of the original color case-hardening is still visible on the underside of the breechblock and all of the stampings are still crisp and clear. The walnut stock rates very good with a few scattered chips, and numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered throughout. The "SWP / 1891" cartouche and "P" firing proof are still crisp, and there is an "H / 55" rack marking on the comb, as well as a crisp "65th REG. SNY" unit ID on the right side near the buttplate. The lock is fully functional, and this is a nice looking, unit marked Trapdoor, that is in good-very good condition overall. Antique
