Description:
This is an original “short" belt holding 148 rounds for the Williams/Lisk .22 LR Submachine gun developed by Marsh “Carbine" Williams (the inventor of the M-1 Carbine) and L.E. Lisk. The gas-operated, beld fed Sub gun had an adjustable cyclic rate of 1500 to 2700 rounds per minute and was 26 inches in length with two aluminum hand grips looking like a Buck Rogers space gun that could be comfortably touched after thousands of rounds were fired. Tested by the military the gun performed flawlessly but was never adopted and remains an important and interesting item in the history of arms development. Belts ranged in length with some as large as 1000 rounds. A full length feature article about the gun appears in the 5th edition of The Gun Digest Book of Assault Weapons. The cloth belt is in excellent condition with some soiling with ends marked “MACHINE GUN BELT / CAL. 22." A rare component of a forgotten test weapon.
