(2 3/4") 28” barrels, gorgeous wood, hand-detachable locks, F/M chokes, Excellent Condition. This 16 gauge was built in July 1960 (760 stamp) in Ulm, West Germany and is designated a curio relic (C&R) by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms. This high grade Sidelock Ejector over and under is an example of the best German craftsmanship. It features ejector “Bohler Spezial” steel barrels with a solid hand-filed matted top rib, a solid mid-rib. Chokes are Full and Modified. Its sights are fitted with a center silver bead and an ivory front bead. The rib is engraved with the makers name and location. This is the great Krieghoff designed sidelock action that locks up with three locks: two Purdey underbites and a third single Kersten crossbolt. The receiver’s left lock is fitted with a concealed sidelock release for the hand-removable Primus sidelocks with integral bridles, intercepting sears and automatic ejectors. The firing pins have a bushed plate for easy removal. The fences are reinforced and the top of the receiver has cocking indicators on each side of the action lever. The tang mounted safety is manual. The front trigger is a set trigger and the trigger guard is made of one-piece horn with an inlaid pointed tang, fastened down with two engraved screws. The pistol grip is fitted with a matching horn cap. For cosmetics, the entire receiver areas are full coverage deep scroll engraving finished in French gray as is the forearm’s Deeley & Edge pull down release. The action lever, sling swivels, and barrels are blued in a high-quality rust-blue finish. The oiled stock and three-piece forearm are fashioned from 4X fancy walnut. The figure on both the right and left profiles are emblazoned with dark streaks in marble cake patterns. The colors are rich from dark tan to nearly black. The stock’s fluted comb is classic with a contoured shadow-line cheekpiece (per its German heritage) and shaped with a pistol grip. Both it and the field forearm are hand-checkered with a skip-line checkering pattern (very German), creating small diamonds in classic point-patterns masterfully cut and surrounded by double borders. The butt is finished with a dark brown leather-covered recoil pad. Dimensions in inches are 1 ½” x 2 ¾” x 14 ½” (LOP). The Dural version of the Ulm was built with Kreighoff’s blend of aluminum and titanium, making a strong but lightweight receiver, easy to carry and a perfect medium for the French Gray finish just becoming popular in the 1960s. The result is a light gun at 5 lbs., 12 oz. Condition: Very well cared for, only slightly used. The action locks up tight.
