Description:
SCARCE 1894 OCTAGON RIFLE IN .25-35 CALIBER, #417XXX MADE 1908. It is surprisingly difficult to find an octagon rifle in .25-35 chambering. It seems it was much more popular in the carbine version. This example shows fine deep barrel and magazine blue with excellent markings. the barrel is fitted with a buckhorn rear sight with elevator bar intact and mated with a blade/bead front sight. It is also fitted with a Marble tang sight. The receiver shows fine blue that is evenly mixing with some plum with brighter blue in the more protected areas and on the loading gate. Screw heads are excellent, action is tight and the bore is only a bit dark with fine rifling all the way through and NO pitting or roughness. Stock and forearm show very tight wood to metal fit and reveal only some light handling marks mainly on the forend. Overall a very attractive, un-messed with 114 year old 1894 octagon rifle in a very scarce caliber.
