Remington Model 31TC 12-gauge pump shotgun. This gun was Remington’s answer to the venerable Winchester Model 12 Trap. I won’t get into a Ford vs. Chevy thing between the Model 31 and the Model 12 but everyone who has ever shot both will agree on the incredible smooth action of the 31!
Old Remington executives were so “bent” on trying to capture part of that Model 12 market that they acknowledge Remington lost money on every Model 31 sold! Their cost of manufacturing the machined receiver, the integral machined vent rib and the fit and finish was too expensive to compete, so they literally sold them below cost.
This 31TC weighs 9 lbs. 1 oz. (there is added weight in the butt). With the added weight the gun balances about ½” back of the bottom loading port. The nicely figured original stock has a 14 3/8” LOP over a recently installed Kick-Eez pad; 1 1/2” DAC; 2” DAH and neutral cast.
30” Vent Rib barrel has a full choke measuring .035”. Also recently installed is a release trigger.
The metal on this gun retains 97% original rust blue. The wood about 95-97% original varnish with no damage or cracks.
This is a truly fine example of the wonderful Remington Model 31TC
