Description:
"

This Colt 1911, made in 1918 and marked United States Property, has an interesting Colored unit WWII history. The barrel is P proofed and bore is excellent, with original grips and two tone magagazine. The gun has approx. 40% finish with even holster wear. The action functions correctly. This rig consists of the M1911 pistol, a WWII 1944 dated Boyt holster, 1944 dated medical pouch, and 1937 datedbelt. This historical gun comes with a 2021 hand written letter from James Milton (grandson) attesting that this Model 1911 Colt Army pistol, serial #383212, belonged to his Grandfather, James Milton, who served in WWII in Italy and Germany. He was a Sergeant in Company C, 317th Medical Battalion, a Black unit. Also included are three color prints of Stg. Milton with other soldiers. Interestingly, this Black unit not only served in Italy and Germany but also, as evidenced by one print, was at one point in Cairo, Egypt. The 317th Medical Battalion (Colored) was part of the 92nd Infantry Division (Colored). It's rare that a firearm tied to a Black unit is encountered. Don't miss this one!
