This is one of the best 1917-dated 1916 model DWM Navy Lugers we have seen. It has approx. 97% blue overall with light edge wear. The straw parts have approx. 95% finish. The 6"" 9mm Luger caliber barrel has an excellent bore. The numbers are matching on the frame and barrel, grips, safety, trigger, side plate, toggles, sear, and magazine. The breechblock, extractor, and firing pin were never numbered. The magazine, with wood base with concentric rings, is excellent and is Navy proofed and numbered to the gun. The left side of the frame and rear sight base are dated 1917. The chamber is dated 1917 and the toggle has the script DWM logo. The checkered grips are excellent. The action functions correctly. The 1916 Navy Luger is very scarce today as many went down on German submarines during WWI. You will never need to upgrade this example.
