Description:
This is a very clean, VERY lightly-used High Standard 106 Series Military Supermatic Tournament .22LR semi-auto pistol.  This High Standard was manufactured in 1968 in the Hamden, Ct. plant and features a high-polish gloss blue finish, a 6.75" inch heavy target barrel, a case-colored magazine release, a push-button barrel release, adjustable target-style sights, and checkered American Walnut grips.  This semi-auto target pistol was at the lower end of the dedicated target guns in the 106 series, with the main difference being the rear sight being mounted on the slide rather than on a bridge over the slide, and the trigger weight was fixed rather than adjustable.  Many shooters preferred this model as it was easier to rack the slide without cutting your hand on the sight bridge and the factory hand-tuned travel-adjustable trigger was still superb.  The 106 Military Supermatic Tournament was in production from 1965 until 1968.  This particular example was made in the last year of production for this model, 1968.  It is date coded on the bottom of the barrel "AL" which translates to January of 1968.  As you can see from this pictures this High Standard is in beautiful all-original condition.  The factory high-polish gloss blue finish is bright, clean, and beautiful, rating 98%.  You will have to look extremely hard and very closely to find anything worthy of a 2% deduction.  There are no bad spots, scratches, or spots of finish wear on this pistol.  All of the factory markings are perfectly stamped and crisp, and all of the serial numbered parts are matching.  The case colored magazine release is perfect rating 99% plus.  The bore is mirror-bright and pristine with zero imperfections visible.  The rifling still looks brand-new and razor sharp throughout the barrel.  The factory grips on this pistol are also in beautiful shape, free from any damage, cracks, repairs, or visible wear.  The checkering is crisp and like-new, and there is no oil soiling of the wood.  The grip panels match each other perfectly in every respect and are tight to the grip frame with no wiggle.  Both grip screws are in excellent condition.  The action on this Supermatic Tournament is slick, smooth, and precise.  The slide-to-frame fitment is superb.  The slide slams home into battery with authority and all of the controls function like-new; this includes the rear sight adjustments which are in perfect working order.  The factory hand-fit and hand-tuned target trigger is superb, breaking like a thin glass rod with a very light pull and no grit, sloppiness, or excessive travel/overtravel.  This High Standard comes with one factory magazine in excellent condition with perfect feed lips and a strong follower spring.  We have no doubt that this pistol will function just as well today as it did when it left the factory 54 years ago.  If you have been looking for a top-quality vintage target pistol that is both classy and capable of out-shooting most of the modern stuff out there, this 106 Military Supermatic Tournament is it!
