Shipping is actual cost with a minimum of $30.00 for pistols and $50.00 for rifles/shotguns to ship to most of the 48 contiguous states. Shipping to Alaska may require an extra fee. The Winchester Model 70 is one of the most famous bolt action designs ever produced and is still one of the most desired rifles on the market today. This the Super Shadow model. It comes with a synthetic stock featuring oval dot texturing on the pistol grip and forearm for increased control over the rifle during firing. It also comes with a nice, solid butt pad for reducing felt recoil. This is a pre-2007 model so it is labeled as having a ‘control-round push-feed’ method of operation. This method is similar to that used in the venerable Remington Model 700 rifle. Chambered for the powerful 270 Winchester Short Magnum, this rifle is suited to long-range shooting whether it be hunting or target shooting. In general, the WSM series of cartridges are basically short action equivalents to famous long-action magnum rounds. For example, the 300 WSM matches the performance of the 300 Winchester Magnum and the 7mm WSM does the same for the 7mm Remington Magnum. Even the 325 WSM was intended to perform similar to the 338 Winchester Magnum, however Winchester for various reasons, chose to go with what is essentially an 8mm bullet instead of a .338-diameter bullet. The 270 WSM on the other hand, has no real direct equivalent. It surpasses the performance of the old 270 Winchester and comes very close to the performance of the 270 Weatherby Magnum, but was not designed nor intended to be that cartridge’s short action counterpart. The stock has some minor scratches in various places but none of them are very noticeable. The bore exhibits some light pitting in the mid-section of the barrel. This should not affect the accuracy. The rifling in front is of course free of any pitting. The bolt face does exhibit minor pitting. The trigger is has a fairly short travel length and is slightly heavy, but consistent. The rifle is fitted with a Simmons 8-Point 3-9x40mm scope. For someone looking into a powerful, mid-to-long distance rifle, the Model 70 Super Shadow fits the bill perfectly.
