Description:
Wilhelm Collath was a leading rifle and sporting gun-maker in Frankfurt Germany. He became owner of his gun business in 1870, the same year he joined the Frankfurt Gun-maker's guild. He remained in business until the start of WWII in 1941. This 16 Ga. shotgun remains in very good overall condition for its age, showing the ingenuity and craftsmanship the Germans are renowned for. Wood is solid with no cracks, but has turned dark with age and checkering is very worn. Pistol grip cap, trigger guard and bottom lever are all bone. Under lever has a very small hairline crack where it is attached, so great care must be taken when opened. Butt pad appears to have been replaced with hard rubber and modern screws. Original blue is very good with just a couple small areas of pitting. Bores are excellent! This gun is a true classic beauty! 16 Gauge
