FINE CIVIL WAR GALLAGER U.S. PERCUSSION CAVALRY CARBINE CA. 1862-3. .50 caliber rifled 22 ¼” barrel. All matching (14,xxx range) and 100% original. Lock plate stamped “GALLAGER’S PATENT/JULY 17TH, 1860” and “MANUFACTD. BY/RICHARDSON& OVERMAN/PHILADA/SERIAL#”. 50-60% blue on barrel and minor amounts of grey case hardening mixed with crisp original patina on frame. Stock with all the original finish. Has a several thin 2-3” impress dents on the left butt from banging against the sling ring clip bar attesting to it’s actual Cavalry use. Most of the screws are in excellent condition some with blue. Only the nipple clean out screw is slightly damaged. Perfect working order and excellent bore. Used by numerous Ohio Cavalry Regiments as well as the 3rd West Virginia Cavalry and the 13th Tennessee Cavalry Volunteers.
