VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND TRIPLE LOCK .44 SPECIAL (.44 HAND EJECTOR FIRST MODEL), #11XXX. This limited production, first of the big "N" frame side-swing cylinder S&Ws has become increasingly difficult to locate. They rarely seem to turn up even at the well established big gun shows. Serial numbers ran from 1-15375 and production was from 1908-1915. By the serial number, I would think this one was probably made about 1912 or 1913. This is a nickel example with a 6 1/2" barrel. It retains most of the original nickel with scattered freckling and holster wear mainly to the high edges. The grip straps retain most of the fine bright nickel and the grips fit perfectly and show only normal light wear. The front sight has not been altered and mechanically this revolver is tight. The bore is mainly bright and excellent with perhaps a few spots of light corrosion or leading ahead of the cylinder. All markings are sharp and clear and the screw heads are excellent. There are some very light cleaning lines mainly on the right side of the frame that are fairly minor. Matching numbers. An attractive and extremely important early S&W.
