LONG BARRELED Army & Navy Sidearm w/1822 Dated Lock
Here we present an antique U.S. Model 1819 Simeon North Percussion Conversion Martial Pistol, made circa 1822 in Middletown, Connecticut. This .54 caliber smoothbore U.S. Contract Model 1819 pistol was made by Simeon North for a U.S. army contract and would have started out life as a flintlock prior to being converted to percussion when the more reliable system was introduced.
This pistol was updated with a commercial type hammer. It was also rebarreled at some point with a much longer than standard smoothbore barrel with a front sight blade.
The overall condition is good. The action is strong. The bore is smooth and dim. The stock shows some old fissures but it all remains solid and stable. An interesting piece!
