Payment Types Accepted: M/C, VISA, American Express and Discover Description: " The .577-450 caliber Pattern 1871 Mark II short lever Martini-Henry rifle was introduced in 1877. It had an improved trigger over the Mark I rifle. It was superceded by the more common long lever Mark III rifle in 1879. The 32"" barrel has a fair bright bore with erosion about a third of the way down from the muzzle and no evidence of the original rifling. All the metal has a smooth brown patina. The left side of the barrel and receiver and various other parts have British military inspection and proof stamps. The right side of the receiver is stamped ENFIELD over 1878 over the crown/broad arrow stamp over II. The lower right of the receiver has the serial number which matches the number on the right side of the barrel. The buttstock is fair with arsenal repairs and small chips at the top junction with the receiver and on the bottom. A variety of issue and inspection stamps along with a rondel are on the right side. The forearm is very good with issue wear. The cleaning rod and swivels are present. Also included is a white buff sling which appears to be original and a Martini-Henry socket bayonet which fits perfectly. The action functions correctly. If you want a Zulu war era gun, this rifle is for you! SOLD Antique: Yes |
