#175680, A Winchester Pre-64 Model 70 Custom Rebarreled & Chambered to a 30-06, The action was made in 1951, A very nice 23" octagon barrel with an integral front ramp, Island rear sight base with a fixed standing rear sight, 3 position Model 70 wing safety, Model 70 trigger, Standard Model 70 floorplate and trigger guard, 3 panel teardrop bolt knob checkering that is very well done, Built up bolt stop release, A nice Classic custom stock by an unknown stocker with very nice inletting inside and out, American Walnut stock with some fiddleback, Wrap around point pattern checkering, Biesen 2 screw checkered grip cap, Shadowline cheekpiece, Sling eyes, 13 11/16" LOP over a Biesen checkered steel buttplate, 7 lbs. 6 oz., The bore is absolutely brand new, The overall condition on both metal and wood is 94% since built as a custom. I can assure you this was not the stocker's first attempt at custom stocking a bolt rifle. It has nice workmanship along with the classic lines of what an American classic styled bolt rifle is all about. The octagon barrel has excellent workmanship with striking on the barrel flats as clean and sharp as you can find. This is a nice rifle with an excellent amount of workmanship on both the barrel and the stock. This gun was bought from Griffin & Howe in 2014 for more money than our asking price and on their invoice, it was listed only as a Winchester Model in 30-06.
