Description:
Some consider the Model 390 a better shotgun than its successor the AL391, being viewed as simpler and easier to clean and maintain, while still doing the same job as the latter model. In fact, many will argue that the 390 is the best gas-operated semi-auto ever made. The 390 can reliably cycle with both 2.75-inch and 3-inch shells, and is well known for its ability to take abuse and keep functioning. Like all gas operated guns, the 390’s gas system must be cleaned from time to make sure it operates at full efficiency. Thanks to the self-adjusting aspect of the 390’s gas system design, it is one of the cleanest gas-operated autoloaders available. One of the 390’s more interesting quirks is that as the gas system becomes dirtier over time, the action begins to slow down, letting the shooter know they need to clean the gun. The gas system design also allows the 390 to handle lighter loads more easily. This is the Model 390 Synthetic. It was made in the U.S. It features a 28-inch long barrel with 6mm vented rib. The front sight is normally a gold bead dot, however an aftermarket fiber-optic sight has been attached. It can be removed at any time. The receiver exhibits some light frosting on the finish, but this is nearly unnoticeable. The barrel has some minor scratches on the left hand side. Both sides of the barrel has some dark spots in the finish in a few places, but this is mostly visual, as they cannot be felt with a fingertip. The rear right side of the rib does exhibit some pitting in one spot. Please see the photos. Strangely, the sling swivel studs had been removed. The 390 is currently fitted with a improved cylinder choke. The bore is in excellent shape with no rust or pitting present. The magazine tube has a plug in it and will currently hold two rounds. There is no box. Author's Note: Previously this shotgun was shown with a rubber but pad extender. It has been removed for two reasons: 1. Wear and tear - a seam was discovered near the bottom and once a tear starts there is no fixing it. 2. Vent rubber pads are not very effective compared to the solid type. They have a tendency to collapse under recoil. The 390 retains its original hard rubber butt plate. End of Note.
