Description:
Mounted Weapons Display Board. Five war axes/pipe tomahawks, four arrows, decorated Island paddle and knife sheath. These in the style of, and may or may not have been Native made, but are representative of the style and period. All dance with the exception of arrows. Board 48” x 52”.

1. 1870s style Northern Plains war tomahawk with unique hand forged spontoon style blade featuring two offset upward curled basal processes. The cherry wood haft is adorned with spiral wrap of old square shanked brass tacks. The head is held tightly in place on the haft with a rawhide gasket and tacks. Head 9 ¾” overall 25”. 

2. 1880s style pipe tomahawk with lead inlay and brass tacks. 24”L x 9” blade. 

3. Pacific Islands fancy dance paddle with engravings, abalone and wrapped handle. A contemporary decorative piece. 30”L

4. 1840s style French made presentation pipe tomahawk in the style of the Iroquois of the Six Nations reserve. Tiger maple handle inlaid with engraved silver banding and inlays. The smoking tip is poured pewter and brass. The gasket is poured pewter, and the end cap is silver with engraving. Forged iron head with elaborate engraving. Some of the inlays have raised up from the shrinking of the wood over time, which is common with tiger maple handles. This type of fancy inlaid presentation tomahawk is a style often presented to chief’s or other tribal dignitaries. Head 7 ½” overall 22”

5. 1840s style spontoon pike war tomahawk in the style of Gros Ventre Indians in Montana. Rare hand forged iron “knife blade” style spontoon blade. Hardwood haft has an old wrap of flat brass telegraph wire at the gripping section. Square shanked brass tacks and a pierced hold which held a rawhide wrist thong at one time. Head features two pierced lobes. Head 9” overall 20”

6. 1800-1810 style Mandan Missouri war axe style of tomahawk with a small, forged iron head. The weathered handle has a pierced hole at the bottom end and remnants of a rawhide gasket at the top. Single pierced hole in the blade for simple decoration. Head 6”. 

7. Four Northern Plains arrows with remnants of original fletching. Replaced arrows 19th Century – contemporary steel trade points. Arrows 24”. 

8. Contemporary belt knife sheath with hard hide backing and long braided neck thong. 6”
