Description:
Springfield Model U.S. Rifle M1 MK2 MOD1 Garand is a right-hand semi-auto U.S. Military rifle in 7.62x51 NATO. It has a 24-inch barrel. A blade front sight with protective sides and an adjustable aperture rear sight. The butt stock is a smooth hardwood pistol grip. The forearm is smooth two-piece hardwood. The barrel is dated 3-66, TE: 2. The Navy determined that Garands could be modified to use 7.62x51 NATO ammunition. The first effort resulted in the MK2 MOD0 where chamber bushings were installed into the original barrel. This allowed the use of 7.62x51 ammunition but it proved unreliable. The MK2 MOD 1 was created by installing Springfield barrels chambered in 7.62x1 NATO. .30-06 Springfield
