Description:
With a 69 Cal,smooth bore and a 45” barrel with an excellent bore. The metal surfaces remain in-the-white and are mostly bright with some light gray and brown patina and some areas of grease staining throughout. There is a small amount of light pitting on the right side of the barrel near the lock. The rear of the barrel has a small fleur-de-lis stamping on its left side, the lock is similarly marked with “Charleville” in script below. The inside of the lock is stamped “K15” and what appears to be an oval with “ML” in script. The near-full length hardwood stock rates near excellent and has a reddish color stain and a few light handling marks. The rear barrel band spring channel has been neatly filled and there are a few small hairline cracks forming. The right side of the butt is also stamped with the fleur-de-lis marking. The proper trumpet-head steel ramrod is included and is marked with a “J” and “S” on its face. Also included is a reproduction steel socket bayonet with a rudimentary 18th century “US” marking. The lock appears to operate correctly. This is a quality reproduction of the very first U.S. Martial arm sent by France to the Colonies in about 208,000.
