Offering a fairly EZ VINTAGE gun project. This is an Ethan Allen Falling Block action Rifle...Mechanics mostly present but Hammer needs a stirrup for the Mainspring..mon to ALL Hammer guns and easily found on eBay Dixie etc. Many of these rifles were carried in the Civil War and most were used for Sporting purposes. Ethan Allen guns were well made guns.! This appears to be of 40+ caliber CF or RF cartridge.The rifling is fine and bore is shiny w/NO pitting visible but the muzzle has been rebated due to some muzzle issue-NO bulge or Dent on this barrel Lettering is all present..the ser.numbers match #1257..out of 2000mfg. The rear sight is the most unusual & NICE as I have ever seen on a vintage firearm..! Basically, it is controlled by a side lever that elevates the Rear sight numbered from 1-10..! Whether or not you are aware, THIS is a much desired rifle and due to the high quality of its mfg. AND few made..roughly no more than 2,000..! If you possess some mehanical and wood working knowledge..this 'project should be an EZ adventure.
