It is marked J,M, Marlin New Haven Conn. U.S.A. Chambered in .22 Long. Patented February 9 1875. Ballard's' Patent Nov 5 1861. These rifles were manufactured between 1875-1891 Making thius an antique. This particular one has a low serial Number 4151 Im estimating it to be manufactured in 1881. Barrel is estimated to be 80% blue with some spots of light corrosion as expected for a rifle this old. The receiver has a nice brown patina. It has a Vernier sight and a v notch sight in the rear and a hooded fine post with a dot on the front for a front sight. It has a nice shinny bore remarkable for its age. The wood is in very good condition and is flush with the metal leading me to believe it has not been refinished. the forend has a small crack on the tip on the right side and has a triangular ebony tip inlay.
