Description:
SOLD     Only 1150 were sold to the Portuguese Military. Savage 1907s were the standard side-arm issued to commissioned officers in the Portuguese Army. There are two main differences in the "standard" issue 1907 and the Portuguese contract pistols. First is the lanyard loop. Secondly, the grips were replaced with grips bearing a Portuguese emblem. When these pistols made it back to the U.S. most of the grips were replaced with original Savage grips which have the Savage logo. Pistols with both Portuguese grips still attached are seldom seen. We have established Portuguese contract pistols are rare. Even more rare is the original Portuguese / Savage box. Notice the end label is written in Portuguese and so is the label on top and the label inside the box. Few of these are known to exist. As you will see in the pictures the lanyard loop is still on the pistol. Both grip panels are in good condition. A nice amount of the original blue finish remains. It also shows wear. Markings are clear, correct, and original. The magazine is the correct type with two catch holes. SAVAGE can clearly be seen on the frame left side. Notice also there is a cartridge indicator. Bore is in good condition. It has good lands and grooves along with some pitting. There are no issues. I have not shot the pistol. I have cycled cartridges, and everything is tight and smooth.  American Arms & Antiques item #2582.  Please let me know if you would like more pictures.
